Treasures and Darkness Chapter 1

Chapter 1

It has been a week since Tiger had received the items. Nothing out of the blue seemed to happen, but she did look over the maps and they didn’t make any sense to her in a way. The necklace didn’t do anything and she wanted to know what to do. All Tiger was doing was lying in her bed and wishing that there was some hint that might help her. Rendell had not talked to her ever since that one time and it began to bother her a bit.

There was a knock at the door and Tiger sat up. She sighed as she looked towards her white door. “Come in…” She called out.

The door opened and a tall woman stood there. She had long blond hair and bright green eyes. The woman wore a white blouse and black shorts. There was dirt on her face and wore a small sunny hat on her head. “Tiger, are you ok?” Her mother asked poking her head through the door.

She nodded, unsure of what to do. All of her life, she had lived with only her mother and little sister. “I am fine, Mom. What do you want?’ She retorted. Tiger didn’t like when her mom came into her room and asked how she was feeling.

A medium white box slipped through the door and her mother set the box on the bed. It was quite heavy and kept moving around as if something was in it. “This came for you…” Her mother looked at her. “There is an address, but there is no return address.” The woman sighed.

“Really?!” Tiger asked. It was strange how there was no return address and wondered who had sent this to her. All that was on the box was a small note that said “TO Tiger” and “Fragile” wa at the bottom of the box.

Tiger grew curious of what was inside the box and saw it jump about an inch high. Something must be trying to get out and she sat up on the box, seeing tape on it. Peeling the tape off carefully, Tiger got the flaps off and the box stopped moving. Her mother was already out of the room and Tiger hadn’t realized it. She was trying to be careful and opened the flaps to find a strange white cat with white bat like wings flying out of the ox and onto the bed. Tiger backed away, not sure how to react and leaned up against a soft pillow. Her eyes were gazing at the bat-like cat that landed on the bed.

A small purr came from the cat as it walked to her. It folded its wings and looked at Tiger. “Greetings, Tiger.” The cat meowed. “My name is Winter and I am a cat bat. Nice to meet you.” The she-cat purred and rubbed against Tiger.

Everything went confusing and she passed out for a few minutes. Her head felt dizzy and her head was spinning, she felt as if she was falling into sudden darkness and then she finally fainted on her bed.

“Tiger…” Winter meowed. The white cat bat was rubbing against Tiger’s face, trying to wake her new master. “Are you ok… speak…” She hissed.

Tiger sat up and rubbed her head. It was in a bit of pain, but her vision was clear. There was a slight bump on her head from hitting the side of the rail and led a small bruise that was a dark color. It had only been about ten minutes since Tiger had passed out and she looked at the cat known as Winter Where had she come from and why did she know my name? This is just too creepy…, Tiger thought. Everything about the cat was strange.

“Are you ok, master Tiger?” Winter whined. “I am sorry if I scared you… I just thought that your uncle explained things to you…” She meowed sadly. There must be a way to reason with Tiger in order for everything to be ok. The bat at worried that her master would be scared and wanted to know how she can explain everything, from the world may be taken over to how Winter came to be in Tiger’s possession.

“You knew my… uncle…” Tiger folded her arms as she looked doubtfully at Winter. “My uncle has told me many stories of adventures…” She tries to remember a few stories that Uncle had told her. “Like when he saw a feisty lion… or the time he fought off secret agents when he was going after a thing called the Ancient Cow’s eyes.”  She frowned. “Nothing in my uncle’s stories explained of a cat bat, bat cat… whatever… in his stories.” Tiger sighed.

Winter paced back and forth on the bed, her tail lashing. “This doesn’t make any sense…” She mumbled. “I was specifically told that you now all this stuff by now. Your uncle has…” The white cat bat gulped. Then she shook her head. “He must have been trying to protect you from the NDA.”

Tiger blinked. “Calm down, Winter. What is the NDA and why are they after the world? I thought all those stories were made up and made no sense at all…” Tiger sighed.

The cat shook her head and let a growl from her throat. “They are all real. Your uncle was the best explorer the STWC had and it was a sad loss that he died during his last and final mission.” Winter flew onto Tiger’s lap and nosed the stone. “I believe it is time that you knew what is going on. I believe you are ready to help the STWC save the world from the NDA and end the long fighting.” Winter meowed.

Suddenly, the stone around Tiger’s neck began to glow and the room changed around them. There was only blackness, but the bed was still there and Winter sat on Tiger’s lap. There was nothing in sight it seemed like an endless trail of blackness. A strange creaking noise came from out of nowhere and then a few eyes were looking about the darkness. A few moments later, there was a lush green forest and everything seemed normal, animals would chase each other through a forest, bugs crawled in the grass and it was all sunny. Everything in this odd forest was calm and free.

Tiger looked around. Everything was wild, the forest and the fresh air. But now something occurred, why was her bed here and how did they get here. “Winter, where are we? Where is my room?” Tiger gasped. Even though they were in a random forest, Tiger seemed relaxed and happy.

“We are still in your room.” Winter leapt off of Tiger’s lap and sat on the bed. “Our souls are just in depth and we are inside a memory of the stone.” She looked around as a noise came by. “This place is known as Dusk Falls Forest and this is where your uncle had his first mission. Now just wait and watch.” Winter growled as she looked at the bush.

A few seconds later, a tall slim boy with sleek brown hair and green eyes came out and puffed. He was wearing a brown explorer uniform and there were a few things on his belt, like a normal water bottle, a small sack of food and a strange charm that shined like the night sky. He wore a black necklace, just like Tiger’s but it seemed newer and cleaner. The mysterious stranger had a few cuts on his arms and legs that seemed to be from low bushes. Even though he seemed be in bad shape, a smile was on his face and the spirit of adventure could easily be seen in the man’s eyes.

Tiger tilted her head in confusion. The man seemed familiar to her, but as she tried to think, her mind went blank and a frown fell upon her face. How can I not remember who that is? I have seen that man many times on pictures, but where…, she thought. Feeling Winter rubbing against her, she rubbed the cat’s back and then managed to feel the wings, which felt a little hairy and soft. “Winter, who is that stranger?” Tiger asked. She decided to give up on asking who the man was.

Winter’s eyes grew wide. “Tiger, how can you not remember who that is! That is your uncle, Claus.” She purred. “We are at the time when he started his first adventure. He wasn’t part of the Company yet, but he seemed quite handsome.” Winter meowed. The cat dared not to take her eyes off the man.

Finally younger Claus was full of energy and walked on. The sack of food would bang across his back and then puffed again. Something was behind the man and he had to keep moving. Claus looked around and everything was clear, but he shrugged and walked on.

“Why can’t he see us?” Tiger asked. She wanted to know a bit more about her uncle and how he was an adventurer.

Winter growled as she quieted Tiger. She flew near Tiger’s right ear and whispered into the human’s ear, “We are in something that happened in the past. But we have to be quiet or we can get in trouble here.” A worry look came across the white cat bat’s head “There are still dark matters that lurk in this area and we can attract them.” She growled.
