Chapter 3

As the next day followed, Tiger was dropped off at the park that Randall wanted to meet her. The park had many kids running around and playing games. Birds would fly in and out of trees, squirrels ran along the branches and dogs chased ball through the park. At one side was a small playground with a jungle gum, slides and swings. The other side had a building for restrooms and a large open field that led down a deep hill, which was forbidden to public, with a large tree at the top of the hill. It was a perfect day to come to the park since the sun was shining and everyone was in a cheerful mood.

Tiger entered the entrance to the park and looked around. She had her blue sack backpack swung around her back and was wearing blue jeans with an orange shirt and the Night Stone around her neck. She could remember that Winter was in her room, but the something nudged her back and she opened her bag to see the cat bat, shrunken down, inside her backpack. “Winter! What are you doing here?” Tiger growled.

The cat glanced at Tiger, but then sighed. “I wanted to come to protect you,” She began. “I am your guardian and I do not trust this meet… it may be…” the cat felt uneasy for being in the bag since it was filled with trash. “Don’t you ever clean this up?” She hissed.

“I know, I know. It could be a trap.” Tiger sighed. Just… stay quiet and be still…” She instructed. She closed her bag and was a bit puzzled that Winter had snuck into her bag. Putting the bag back on, Tiger walked to the tree and tried to pass kids, and saw Kendall playing his DSi again. She just rolled her eyes and mumbled a bit.

Kendall looked up from his game, surprised to see his friend here. He slammed the DS shut. “It took you long enough. Did you take a bus or something?” He laughed. Kendall stood up and brushed the dirt off his jeans. “So are you wondering why I asked you to meet me at the park?” He asked. A slight grin came across his face and pointed down the hill. “We are having to go down there to get to the Agency.” He said.

Tiger looked down at the barren land. All it was an open plain, but the soil was really loose that would cause sinkholes and rocks were all around, even someone could scrap their knee and get hurt. “Why are we going there?” She glanced at her friend. “It is forbidden and anyone can get hurt…”

He shrugged, not caring for what she said. “Well there is a secret passage way and it can lead us to it.” He turned to Tiger. “You have to trust me on this one. We will be ok and I won’t let anyone hurt you.” Kendall gazed out across the plain, about a mile away. “Do you see that hole over there? That is where we have to go and then I will explain more when we get there.” He smiled.

The two begin to walk down the hill to Rock Edge. It got its name for a lot of pointy rocks. They reached the bottom of the hill and began to get to the destination.

At the bottom, Tiger was unsure of the pointy rocks. They seemed sharp enough to cause a cut and around the rocks were racing snakes and bugs. She was creped put, but decided to take her friend’s word and started to walk towards a rock. The rock was pointy and she touched it, but it gave her pain. Tiger looked at Kendall and he was moving along, not terrified or scared. “Um, Kendall, are you sure this is safe?” She asked.

Kendall stopped and turned his head. “Come on. It is fine, you can trust me.” He smiled, his eyes shining with eagerness.

Tiger smiled and managed to get over the first rock. As she clutched the second rock, Kendall was already half way/ “Hey, wait up already. I’ve never done this before.” Tiger laughed as she climbed over.

“Come on, Tiger. We are almost there.” Kendall complained as he walked into the mouth of the cave. It had taken them at least half an hour or so to get to the cave and both of them had a few scratches at their hands, but they didn’t stop. The hole was wide enough for them to crawl into and not far away, voices could be heard from deep within the caves. Kendall had a soft glow of darkness shine in his eyes and was finally able to finish his mission.

Tiger came up behind him, wiping the dirt of her jeans and tucking on her bag. “How much longer to we have until we…” Her stone began to glow around her beck a bit and gave her a vision. There was a giant snake that was with a boy and a girl that looked like her. Mysterious shadows occurred at end of the cave, they were tied in hard ropes and their eyes were filled with fear. Surprisingly, the two girls had necklaces on, but their clothing wasn’t shown in the darkness.

“Tiger…” Kendall cried out, worried about his friend. “Are you ok?” he asked. Something was bugging Tiger and he wanted to help her before she would meet his boss. Kendall reached out for Tiger and held her hand. “Are you ok,” He asked again.

She nodded and felt a bit dizzy. The vision shocked her, making her unable to walk, but she wondered where it came from. In the vision, she had sworn that Kendall and she were in the cave, seeming to be with a snake. What bothered her was the snake was a long ancient snake, like the pharaohs, and had bright green eyes. At the end of the cave, she saw two girls and wanted to help them. Visions seemed to bother her, but then a few seconds, she looked at the hole and followed her friend into the cave.

Inside the cave, it was hard to see, but Kendall pulled out a flashlight and the cave was just a short narrow path. The two were able to see the ending of the cave and nothing was there. Tiger was wondering what to do, but a chill ran up her spine as if something was trying to clutch her.

“Are you sure this will be safe, it doesn’t seem too safe…” Tiger sighed. Inside, she was too scared to move on and wanted to leave. A hand reached her hand and she jumped, seeing that it was Kendall. “Where are we going? Up ahead is just a dead end…”

Kendall smiled and pulled her to the end of the cave. “DO not worry, Tiger. Nothing is going to happen to use, I promise.” They reached the end of the cave and he went ahead. He stood a few paces away and gulped a bit, but tried to not sound scared. “Master… you asked me to come…”

There were two glowing green eyes that looked at Kendall. “Did you bring the girl as you promised?” It hissed.

He stood out of the way and Tiger was standing there, confused what is going on. “Tiger is my friend and I was hoping that you won’t… hurt her any way…”

A man stood out and a smirk ran across his face. He wore a black sleeved jacket and black pants. The mysterious man had dark green eyes, light blond hair and a white necklace around his neck. The man was slim and there was the marking of a snake on the upper right of his shirt, it was the form of a golden hue. “Greetings, Tiger. I am sure that you have heard of me…” He said happily.

Tiger blinked, she wondered who the man was. “Who are you? And how do you know me?” Her mind was blank of the man and she tried to back away a bit, but something kept her still ad calm.

The man shook his head. His eyes glowed and then turned a bit darker. “My name is Polin and I would like you to join the NDA.” He smiled.

Treasure and Dakrness Chapter 2

Chapter 2

The whole forest scenery vanished. The two were in Tiger’s room, the sun was shining and birds were chirping from the window sill. The ceiling fan in the room was on medium and made Winter shiver. The cat got underneath Tiger’s blanket and lay down. As for Tiger, she found herself faced down on her pillow and then she yawned as she sat up. The strange dream was odd, but also she felt as if she was there. Bored, she decided to get out of bed and go downstairs for something to eat. It had been at least a half day since she had last eaten and it was about lunch time so she thought what could go wrong.

The door opened and Tiger looked at Winter, who was asleep in the blankets. She gave a small smile and quietly shut the door behind her. Tiger headed for the stairs and grabbed the rail going down. At the bottom of the steps, her little sister Jamie was happily skipping about the front door. Something bothered her, but she tried to ignore it and was focused on getting to the refrigerator.

“Hi Tina.” Jamie said happily. The young girl smiled as she saw her older sister walking down the stairs. It must have seemed like forever since she had last seen her sister, even though it was only for an hour.

Tiger snorted as she looked at her sister. “What do you want, Jamie? I am busy…” She turned to the opening that was the kitchen. “Do you know if mom ever baked anything?’ Tiger asked.

Jamie shook her head and pointed to the door. “Mom went out to the store.” The girl looked at the bowl of fruit that was on the table next to a pretty window. “I think that I may have left you an apple in the fruit bowl.” Jamie laughed as she ran into the narrow hallway. At the end, she turned around and looked at Tiger. “Oh and I think Kendall had come but earlier. He was asking for you, but I think he is outside.” She sighed and left.

“Ok…” Tiger yelled. She usually gets annoyed by Jamie and then walked into the kitchen. The fruit bowl managed to contain both one banana and an apple. Tiger grabbed the apple and took a big bite and walked to the table. Outside, Kendall was sitting on the bench with his DSi in his hands. She just rolled her eyes and walked out of the kitchen to the front door. A few seconds later, Tiger was down the steps and looked at Rendell. “So what did you come for?” She said.

Kendall looked up from his game, he was playing Mario Kart. He slammed the game down and gave a slight smile. “Hey Tiger. Sorry I have been ignoring you in school for the week…” He sighed, rubbing his hand around his neck.

Tiger glanced, angry that she had to remember that her friend had ignored her in school for the whole week. He wouldn’t talk to her during lunch, had been skipping past her in the hallways and as for walking home from school, he would take another route to leave her. A cold flame burned in her eyes. “Ya, what was that for? I had things to tell you…” Tiger grumbled. She folded her arms.

“I had a few things to do.” Kendall stood up and had a serious look on his face now. “Tiger, do you want somewhere to get away from your home for a while?” he asked. He added, “I know that you had spent most of your time here and thought you could use some fresh air.” He smiled.

Something bothered Tiger, knowing that she couldn’t leave her sister alone. “I can’t go. My mom isn’t back and I need to watch my little sister,” She blushed. “Sorry.”

Kendall was ok with that and thought of somewhere else to go for the time. There were a few personal things he had to talk to her about and looked up at her bedroom window. There was a strange thing looking out the window, it was white and seemed to have something on his eyes. Kendall squintes his eyes as he looked at the window. “Tiger, what is in your room…” He realized it was a cat bat.

Tiger gasped and pulled Kendall underneath the shady bench. The two sat down and she took a long breath. “Rendell, it is just my…” she dared not do say it. “Cat in the window… I kinda put plastic bat wings on it to make it look as if it can fly.” She blushed in embarrassment.

“Well there are a few things that I need to tell you. Why don’t we go up to your room and we can talk about it.” A small growl came as he spoke. “I would like to see what this cat is…” He faked smiled. Something seemed to bother him. He could remember his memory of his leader wanting to recruit Tiger and help them with something big.

Tiger nodded.

Inside the room, there was no sign of Winter and she sighed in relief. If anything had happened to her new pet, she would feel devastated and puzzled. There must have been nothing like the cat she had met and seemed to like Winter in a kind way. Questions still filled her mind about her uncle and wondered of the cat knew anything about it. Tiger sat on her bed and felt a small nudge, guessing that the cat bat had hid underneath her bed.

Kendall looked around the room and was puzzled. “I swore that I saw something there…” He blinked and shook his head. “Tiger, I came to talk to you about something.” He sat on the dresser that was close to the door. “There is a place I work for. It is called the NDA…” He was stopped by Tiger’s shock.

Tiger shook her head and looked at Kendall. “I have heard of that organization…” She whispered.

The boy was a bit surprised, but shrugged and glanced at Tiger with a darkening look. He crossed his arms and leaned against the back of the wall. “Tiger, it is not all bad. They can help change the world to make it better…” he looked down at his feet. “I just want you to join because I don’t want to see you being a minion. You are my best friend and I really care for you.” His face began to turn red. “I really like you…”

Her face turned red and a tear ran down her face. Tiger had liked him too and was afraid to tell him that, but she knew that she couldn’t join the NDA. She wanted to be like her uncle and explore many different places. The stories that Claus had told her were amazing and made her dream of herself in his footsteps. Now that she was starting with finding out what her uncle had sent to her, she could finally start getting somewhere and had to think of what to do.

“Tiger please join.” Kendall said sadly. His eyes suddenly went from sadness to happiness. He pointed to the Night stone and smiled brightly. “Tiger, you have powers unlike anyone. If you join, you can learn to use them…” Kendall explained.

“But…” Tiger shook her head and felt a small nudge from underneath the bed and then looked at her friend. “I don’t want to control the world. This isn’t like you…” She walked to the door and opened it, pointing downstairs to the front door. “I believe that you should leave.” She said. Her heart ached to see her friend out like that, but knew it was the right thing to do. “I can always talk to you in school.” She smiled, trying to sound better.

Kendall looked at Tiger, upset and angry at himself. “Tiger, why don’t you come in and see if you like it…” He walked out the door. “And if you don’t like it, I can just take you out and we can remain friends…” the boy walked to the front door. “How about tomorrow.”

Tiger nodded and blinked. “Um… sure…” She watched as her friend walked out of the front door and then shut her bedroom door. Her face was back to pale color.

Winter growled and looked at Tiger, her tail lashing side by side. The cat flapped her wings and flew in front of Tiger. “Are you crazy? He is luring you into a trap so that his master can make you join…” She grumbled as she went back t the bed. “I wouldn’t go if I was you.” Winter laid her head on her paws. “You uncle was the greatest explorer STWC ever had and you contain those characteristics. If they get ahold of you, the world can end as you know it…” She sighed.

“I know Kendall and he is not like that…” Tiger looked at Winter. “But what can go wrong?” She smiled as she stroked the cat bat.

Treasures and Darkness Chapter 1

Chapter 1

It has been a week since Tiger had received the items. Nothing out of the blue seemed to happen, but she did look over the maps and they didn’t make any sense to her in a way. The necklace didn’t do anything and she wanted to know what to do. All Tiger was doing was lying in her bed and wishing that there was some hint that might help her. Rendell had not talked to her ever since that one time and it began to bother her a bit.

There was a knock at the door and Tiger sat up. She sighed as she looked towards her white door. “Come in…” She called out.

The door opened and a tall woman stood there. She had long blond hair and bright green eyes. The woman wore a white blouse and black shorts. There was dirt on her face and wore a small sunny hat on her head. “Tiger, are you ok?” Her mother asked poking her head through the door.

She nodded, unsure of what to do. All of her life, she had lived with only her mother and little sister. “I am fine, Mom. What do you want?’ She retorted. Tiger didn’t like when her mom came into her room and asked how she was feeling.

A medium white box slipped through the door and her mother set the box on the bed. It was quite heavy and kept moving around as if something was in it. “This came for you…” Her mother looked at her. “There is an address, but there is no return address.” The woman sighed.

“Really?!” Tiger asked. It was strange how there was no return address and wondered who had sent this to her. All that was on the box was a small note that said “TO Tiger” and “Fragile” wa at the bottom of the box.

Tiger grew curious of what was inside the box and saw it jump about an inch high. Something must be trying to get out and she sat up on the box, seeing tape on it. Peeling the tape off carefully, Tiger got the flaps off and the box stopped moving. Her mother was already out of the room and Tiger hadn’t realized it. She was trying to be careful and opened the flaps to find a strange white cat with white bat like wings flying out of the ox and onto the bed. Tiger backed away, not sure how to react and leaned up against a soft pillow. Her eyes were gazing at the bat-like cat that landed on the bed.

A small purr came from the cat as it walked to her. It folded its wings and looked at Tiger. “Greetings, Tiger.” The cat meowed. “My name is Winter and I am a cat bat. Nice to meet you.” The she-cat purred and rubbed against Tiger.

Everything went confusing and she passed out for a few minutes. Her head felt dizzy and her head was spinning, she felt as if she was falling into sudden darkness and then she finally fainted on her bed.

“Tiger…” Winter meowed. The white cat bat was rubbing against Tiger’s face, trying to wake her new master. “Are you ok… speak…” She hissed.

Tiger sat up and rubbed her head. It was in a bit of pain, but her vision was clear. There was a slight bump on her head from hitting the side of the rail and led a small bruise that was a dark color. It had only been about ten minutes since Tiger had passed out and she looked at the cat known as Winter Where had she come from and why did she know my name? This is just too creepy…, Tiger thought. Everything about the cat was strange.

“Are you ok, master Tiger?” Winter whined. “I am sorry if I scared you… I just thought that your uncle explained things to you…” She meowed sadly. There must be a way to reason with Tiger in order for everything to be ok. The bat at worried that her master would be scared and wanted to know how she can explain everything, from the world may be taken over to how Winter came to be in Tiger’s possession.

“You knew my… uncle…” Tiger folded her arms as she looked doubtfully at Winter. “My uncle has told me many stories of adventures…” She tries to remember a few stories that Uncle had told her. “Like when he saw a feisty lion… or the time he fought off secret agents when he was going after a thing called the Ancient Cow’s eyes.”  She frowned. “Nothing in my uncle’s stories explained of a cat bat, bat cat… whatever… in his stories.” Tiger sighed.

Winter paced back and forth on the bed, her tail lashing. “This doesn’t make any sense…” She mumbled. “I was specifically told that you now all this stuff by now. Your uncle has…” The white cat bat gulped. Then she shook her head. “He must have been trying to protect you from the NDA.”

Tiger blinked. “Calm down, Winter. What is the NDA and why are they after the world? I thought all those stories were made up and made no sense at all…” Tiger sighed.

The cat shook her head and let a growl from her throat. “They are all real. Your uncle was the best explorer the STWC had and it was a sad loss that he died during his last and final mission.” Winter flew onto Tiger’s lap and nosed the stone. “I believe it is time that you knew what is going on. I believe you are ready to help the STWC save the world from the NDA and end the long fighting.” Winter meowed.

Suddenly, the stone around Tiger’s neck began to glow and the room changed around them. There was only blackness, but the bed was still there and Winter sat on Tiger’s lap. There was nothing in sight it seemed like an endless trail of blackness. A strange creaking noise came from out of nowhere and then a few eyes were looking about the darkness. A few moments later, there was a lush green forest and everything seemed normal, animals would chase each other through a forest, bugs crawled in the grass and it was all sunny. Everything in this odd forest was calm and free.

Tiger looked around. Everything was wild, the forest and the fresh air. But now something occurred, why was her bed here and how did they get here. “Winter, where are we? Where is my room?” Tiger gasped. Even though they were in a random forest, Tiger seemed relaxed and happy.

“We are still in your room.” Winter leapt off of Tiger’s lap and sat on the bed. “Our souls are just in depth and we are inside a memory of the stone.” She looked around as a noise came by. “This place is known as Dusk Falls Forest and this is where your uncle had his first mission. Now just wait and watch.” Winter growled as she looked at the bush.

A few seconds later, a tall slim boy with sleek brown hair and green eyes came out and puffed. He was wearing a brown explorer uniform and there were a few things on his belt, like a normal water bottle, a small sack of food and a strange charm that shined like the night sky. He wore a black necklace, just like Tiger’s but it seemed newer and cleaner. The mysterious stranger had a few cuts on his arms and legs that seemed to be from low bushes. Even though he seemed be in bad shape, a smile was on his face and the spirit of adventure could easily be seen in the man’s eyes.

Tiger tilted her head in confusion. The man seemed familiar to her, but as she tried to think, her mind went blank and a frown fell upon her face. How can I not remember who that is? I have seen that man many times on pictures, but where…, she thought. Feeling Winter rubbing against her, she rubbed the cat’s back and then managed to feel the wings, which felt a little hairy and soft. “Winter, who is that stranger?” Tiger asked. She decided to give up on asking who the man was.

Winter’s eyes grew wide. “Tiger, how can you not remember who that is! That is your uncle, Claus.” She purred. “We are at the time when he started his first adventure. He wasn’t part of the Company yet, but he seemed quite handsome.” Winter meowed. The cat dared not to take her eyes off the man.

Finally younger Claus was full of energy and walked on. The sack of food would bang across his back and then puffed again. Something was behind the man and he had to keep moving. Claus looked around and everything was clear, but he shrugged and walked on.

“Why can’t he see us?” Tiger asked. She wanted to know a bit more about her uncle and how he was an adventurer.

Winter growled as she quieted Tiger. She flew near Tiger’s right ear and whispered into the human’s ear, “We are in something that happened in the past. But we have to be quiet or we can get in trouble here.” A worry look came across the white cat bat’s head “There are still dark matters that lurk in this area and we can attract them.” She growled.

P.S. Each new entry represents a different story.

Prologue

A young girl with long brown hair and green eyes walked down a narrow street. She wore black jeans, a light blue shirt with a red heart on it and a light blue headband in her hair. In her hands was an old box that had the name “Tiger” on the box. The box was filled with a few old artifacts and maps that seemed like centuries old. The girl was around the age of 16 and was clumsy with the box. The box was heavy and shook in her hands.

“Why did my Uncle have to give me these?” Tiger complained as she set the box down on a bench. She slumped down beside it and let out a long breath of relief.

It was just an ordinary day and Tiger was walking home after getting a box from her uncle that had passed away recently. The birds were chirping and the sun was shining, there was barely a cloud in the sky. The sound of joyful people lifted Tiger’s spirit and she was glad that she had nothing else to do with the rest of the day. She had been thinking of what to do with the old artifacts. All was in her mind was keeping them in her room until she could come up with a better place. However, Tiger knew that her uncle was an explorer and was interested in his works and travels.

Tiger looked inside the box, it just had maps and an amulet stone that had a blackish stone around a gold background. At the bottom of the box was a light blue envelope that had her name on it. She picked up the envelope and looked at the front of it. “Tiger” was written in cursive and on the back had a strange seal that glowed a bit. Tiger opened up the letter and unfolded the piece of paper to read the letter.

“Dear Tina Grape Reliz,

I wanted to give you this stuff to begin your journey. I am sorry if this makes no sense, but there is not much time to explain. I have given you a few things that may help you want to be an explorer like I was. It will have many challenges, but I have a short time to explain.

You see, I am more than just an explorer. I am actually a secret explorer to protect the world from a sinister organization known as NDA. It is an organization that wants to control the world and their leader is Polin. I am part of a group that fights them. The Black Stone, or the Night Stone, is a stone that gives you amazing powers. I have been waiting until you were old enought to know this stuff. You are a descendent of me that is to save the world. I know you can do it, since you are always interested in my stories.

The journey shall be long and dangerous, but also can be fun. I wish you luck and I got to go. Remember, be careful of the NDA and don’t let the Dark Snake control you.

Uncle Claus”

Tiger read the letter over again and blinked. This makes no sense at all. Nobody even wants to control the world and why would my uncle be sending me this letter. All I want to do is be a adventurer like him, but then what is this stone, she thought as she pulled it up. The Night Stone was actually a stone that was in a silk string. She put it around her neck and looked down at it with envy. It seemed like a nice stone to give her and then she felt something touch her shoulder. Tiger jumped as she turned around and saw that it was her friend, Kendall, smiling and sitting next to her.

Kendall was a tall 17 year old boy with black hair and light hazel eyes. He usually wore light blue jeans and a black shirt. He wore a chained white stone necklace and a silver watch around his left wrist.

“Hey.” Kendall smiled as he gave Tiger a hug. His eyes were filled with joy to see his friend again. He noticed the box and looked at Tiger, confused why she had that map. “Why do you have that box with…” Kendall began to move things around in the box a bit. “All these old maps… were they from your Uncle Claus?” He asked sadly. The news of her uncle passing away made him quite sad to see Tiger sad.

Tiger nodded as she took the box from Kendall. Something seemed to keep on her mind about the letter and had no idea if she should tell her Kendall about the note.

“You ok? Are you still upset that your uncle passed away?” Kendall asked. “You can talk about it if you want…” He smiled. The boy held Tiger’s hand and looked at her, hoping that she can be better. He finally noticed the stone that she wore was the same as his and wondered where she got it. “Where did you…” He pointed to the necklace.

“Oh, I got it from my uncle. He calls it a Night stone.” Tiger explained. It would seem off if she explained the letter, but she just stayed quiet after that. The necklace shined a little it and a slight rainbow shined. Sunlight was beaming off if it and then she turned to her friend. Kendall was looking at the stone in a curious and suspicious way, like he knew something and wasn’t telling her. Her eyebrow rose, “Do you know something about it?”

He just shrugged and a slight darkness shined in his eyes. “I never heard of it. But I wonder why it seems like mine?” He shook his head and looked at his watch. “I have to get going.” He said as he stood up. “I will see you later.’ Kendall started to walk away from Tiger.

Tiger sadly watched as she watched Kendall turn the corner. “I guess I should get inside…” She picked the box up and looked at a yellow door. It was where she lived and had two flower pots at the top of the stairs. The door was a bright yellow while the building was made of brick. Near the door, she could see her little sister, Jamie, smiling and waving to her. Tiger waved back and walked up the stairs. She could hea r barking and then opened the door and walked into the door. Ignoring the dog, she quickly walked upstairs and upstairs. The girl slammed the bedroom door behind her and then put it on her white bed.

“So what is this about…” Tiger sighed as she read the letter over again.
